Unseen painting by Claude Monet is set to go up for auction

A never-before-seen painting by Claude Monet is set to go up for auction in New York early next month. The painting, which has never been seen in public before, is expected to fetch more than $65 million³. The painting is a part of Christie’s auction house’s Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale.

The painting is expected to break the record for the most expensive Monet painting ever sold, which currently stands at $110 million. The current record was set in 2019 for one of Monet’s haystack paintings.

The painting is a part of a series of works that Monet painted in his garden at Giverny, France, between 1899 and 1900. The painting is a depiction of his water lily pond and is one of the largest works from the series.

The painting has been described as a “masterpiece rediscovered” and is expected to attract significant interest from collectors around the world. The auction will take place on November 8th at Christie’s New York location.
