One of the biggest hits on Netflix, ‘Stranger Things’ has barely ended and is already surviving with a live-action spin-off and a stage play set in the show’s world and mythology.
Both attractions are being developed by Upside Down Pictures, recently founded by the show’s creators, The Duffer Brothers, who in a new agreement with Netflix said they intend to continue with the Upside Down stories.
News of the Stranger Things spinoff has been circulating since February, when the creators said that “Stranger Things 5” would be the show’s final season, but revealed “There are still plenty of exciting stories to tell in the world of ‘Stranger Things’. New mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.”
It’s no surprise to anyone that Netflix is investing in “Stranger Things”, one of the platform’s most successful attractions – even more so with competition getting fiercer every day. The final season of the series has already hit the incredible mark of 1.15 billion hours watched in the first 28 days of its release.
Upside Down Pictures also announced that it will develop other projects, including a series based on the 1984 fantasy novel “The Talisman” by Peter Straub and Stephen King.
