George R. R. Martin gave another update on Winds of Winter and it looks like we’ll still have to wait a while(!). In an interview with Bangcast, Martin stated that he wrote a total of 1,100 pages, at his last count, the same amount the author disclosed last year.
Martin said: “I’ve got about 1,100 pages written, but I still have hundreds of pages to go. It’s a big book, for whatever reason. Maybe I should have started writing smaller books when I started, but it’s hard. That’s the main thing which dominates most of my professional life.”
In October last year, Martin said he was about 75% complete with The Winds of Winter.
Martin also told Bangcast that there are eight more Game of Thrones spin-offs in development, although only one of them has officially been greenlit. Martin said: “But I also have eight other spin-off shows that we’re developing. The Dunk and Egg show has been greenlit. The others haven’t yet, but we’re still working on them.”
The Dunk and Egg spin-off will adapt Martin’s novels about Being Duncan the Tall and King Aegon V Targaryen, ninety years before the events of Game of Thrones. Other possible spin-offs include a sequel to the currently in limbo show about Jon Snow and a prequel set 10,000 years before the original show called 10,000 Ships.
House of the Dragon has just finished filming its second season.
