Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming sci-fi action film Rebel Moon, has announced that the story of Rebel Moon will expand to comics with the prequel miniseries House of the Bloodaxe. The comic series is titled Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe and will be published by Titan Comics. The series is set to launch in January 2024.
The prequel comic series will be written by Magdalene Visaggio and drawn by Clark Bint. It will star outlaw revolutionaries Devra and Darrian Bloodaxe, played by Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher, respectively. The series will explore their formidable family’s history and is described as “essential reading” for fans eager to learn more about the Rebel Moon universe.
Zack Snyder has previously assured fans that there will be more from the universe of Rebel Moon than just the initial two films A Child of Fire and The Scargiver. “When I pitched it to Netflix, the scale was a thing they wanted,” he said. “They were like, ‘Well, how big could it be? How many movies?’ That made me go, ‘Okay, if we really do this, we can sink our teeth pretty deep into this. We can’t really hit the bottom.’”
In addition to the comic series, a co-op action game from Super Evil Megacorp is in development and will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers. A tabletop RPG based on the film was also being worked on, but due to a lawsuit from developer Evil Genius Games alleging a breach of contract by Netflix, the future of the game itself is unknown at this time.
Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe releases its first issue on January 10, 2024. Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire releases on December 22 on Netflix.
